Marathons, Brunch, and Cleaning...Oh My!

As much as I love lounging around in my pajamas, contributing to the permanent dent in my mattress, I always get the itch to get out and just go. So Friday, I finished up my work for the day, put a little more effort into my look than usual, and headed to the mall with my mom and baby brother. Not only was the family time much needed, but The Gap's having an incredible holiday promotion. Upon arrival, they let you draw a coupon from a bowl; I drew a coupon for 50% off of a bottom and 30% off my entire sale, my brother drew the same one, and my mom drew a coupon for 40% off her entire purchase! Be still, my beating heart.

We made out like a bandit. I'm officially ready for Baton Rouge.

Saturday morning, I made my way downtown, walking fast, faces past and I'm home bound. (Sorry, I couldn't resist.)

Saturday morning, my friend Jimmette and I set up camp close to the finish line of the Richmond Marathon, which her freakishly athletic husband ran like a boss! It was like a win-win for us: we got to cheer him on as he approached the finish line, and we got to have girl time! We chatted it up about married life, Derrick and my future, relationships in general, church and everything in between, peppered with lots of laughs. These types of friendships are so so good for the soul. A friendship 9 years in the making, it's so exciting (and a little crazy when I think about it) to see how much we've grown and evolved. Our conversations went from our old college drama with friends and boyfriends to topics like homeownership and family planning. Before long, Jimmette's marathon app alerted her that Michael was nearing the finish line, and we screamed at the top of our lungs as he cruised by.

We originally had plans to get brunch nearby, but for some strange reason, Michael was dead tired, could barely walk, and didn't want to think about food. Can't imagine why! With Michael in the post-marathon shuttle, Jimmy and I wandered beautiful downtown RVA before making our way through the hellacious traffic to Baker's Crust in Carytown. I had the seafood frittata, while Jimmette chowed down on eggs benedict pizza. I can't wait to come back and take my mom next time!

On Sunday, after a wonderful church service, I came home and did some serious reorganization of my room. That's what Sunday's are for, right? I was so exhausted from reorganization and cooking dinner for the family that I passed out at 5:30, woke up at 8:30, and brewed coffee at 9:30 to keep me awake until a reasonable bedtime hour. Moral of the story? My Sunday was weirder than weird. My weekend overall? Fantastic!

How was your weekend?
